Discipline
Discipline
and good order are an essential part of school life. We aim to
create a safe and secure environment for all pupils and
encourage them to be responsible and self disciplined, only then
can the children be happy and achieve their full potential.
Rules
are kept to a minimum and no form of corporal punishment is
used. In the rare event of a serious problem, parents are
contacted immediately. The rules are in place to ensure their
safety e.g. no running in the corridors, no playing in the
toilets or behind the mini wood out of view of the teachers.
We
try to deal with rules through positive instruction rather than
negative and praise good behaviour.
The
school has a policy on bullying. We deal fairly and quickly with
every incident as it occurs. Year 6 perform various assemblies
about bullying and in them instruct children what to do if they
are bullied. The teachers continually emphasise the fact that
bullies will not be tolerated at Upton Heath. We believe that it
is every child's right to have a happy and fulfilling education
free of fear or intimidation. If parents suspect that children
are being bullied we wish to be informed immediately in order to
address the problem straight away. If someone is found to be
bullying others in the school then their privileges are
withdrawn following warnings from staff. If it continues then
parents are informed and asked to come to see the teacher or the
Head of the school.
In
the event of a particularly serious incident which my endanger
another child or adult, parents are sent for and may be
requested to withdraw their child for an agreed period of time.
The Governing Body reserve the right to exclude a child.
